Castro is a social platform available on the web and as a mobile application. You can create and share articles (including with AI-assisted writing), notes, and other posts; discover people and content; join communities and publications; stream podcasts and register shows using RSS feeds; watch or browse video and TV-style content; upload photos, videos, and documents; chat and receive notifications; subscribe to paid plans; and, where available, receive payouts as a creator. These Terms balance your creativity and freedom to connect with rules that keep the platform safe and lawful.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Castro (the "Service"), including our website, mobile applications, and related features, provided by Castro ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

By using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country), that you have read and understood these Terms, and that you also agree to our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the Service complies with all applicable laws and regulations.
To access certain features, you must create an account. You may register with an email and password or through supported sign-in methods, including Google, Facebook, and Apple, where available. You agree to provide accurate and complete information and to keep it up to date.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us promptly of any unauthorized use or security breach.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your personal or internal business purposes in accordance with these Terms. By submitting Content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, and otherwise use that Content as necessary to operate, promote, and improve the Service, including for AI-related features that assist you in creating or formatting Content. How Content is visible to others may depend on your profile and privacy settings where those options exist.
You represent and warrant that you have all rights necessary to post your Content and that it does not violate any laws or third-party rights. We reserve the right, but not the obligation, to remove Content that we believe violates these Terms or applicable law.
Castro may include links to third-party services (for example external clips). Those services are owned by their respective providers. If you believe Content infringes your rights, you can report it and we'll review and take appropriate action.
Certain features may require a paid subscription or one-time payment. Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy and its payment partners. When you purchase a subscription or paid product, you agree to Lemon Squeezy's applicable terms and checkout disclosures, in addition to these Terms. Card and payment method details are collected by Lemon Squeezy (or its processors), not by us directly.
The Service may allow you to earn money from subscribers or donors. To receive payouts, you may be required to provide banking or payment details, which are processed securely by third-party payment processors.
All intellectual property rights in Castro, including the Service, software, AI models, design, and trademarks, are owned by us or our licensors. This does not affect your ownership of your own Content, subject to the license you grant us above.
If you provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas about Castro, you agree that we may use them without restriction or compensation to you.
The Service integrates third-party tools and services, including authentication (Google, Facebook, Apple), analytics and error reporting (PostHog, Sentry), email delivery (Resend), subscription payments (Lemon Squeezy), and, on the website, advertising (such as Google AdSense) where enabled. Your use of those services may be subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services except as required by law.
Your use of the Service is governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and share personal data—including account identifiers, usage and IP-related metadata for personalization, OAuth sign-in data, contact matching where you opt in, subscription data processed through Lemon Squeezy, emails sent via Resend, and analytics and diagnostics through PostHog and Sentry. By using the Service, you acknowledge and agree to the data practices described in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe that you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraud or abuse, or posed a risk to other users or the Service.
You may stop using the Service at any time and may request account deletion. Some obligations, such as payment of fees owed before termination, accrued rights to Content you posted, or legal responsibilities, may survive termination.
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Castro and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising from or related to the Service will be limited to the greater of: (a) the amount you paid to us for the Service in the last 3 months, or (b) 100 USD (or equivalent in your local currency).
We do not make any warranties or representations about the accuracy, reliability, or availability of the Service, including AI-generated or AI-assisted content, podcast or media streams, or third-party integrations. You use the Service at your own risk. You are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, and verifying any AI-assisted or automated output before you publish or rely on it. We do not guarantee that AI suggestions are accurate, complete, or suitable for any purpose.
These Terms are governed by the laws of your applicable jurisdiction, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved in accordance with local laws and may be subject to arbitration where permitted.
You agree to submit to the jurisdiction of the courts or arbitration forums specified by applicable law or, where mutually agreed, an arbitration venue.
We may update or modify these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective Date" above and may provide notice through the Service or other channels. Your continued use of Castro after the updated Terms become effective constitutes your acceptance of them.
